To secure a long-term future for the boys, BMSA took steps to bring sporting scouts to the event.

The goal is to spread the message of team building and unity among the community.

The event took place over two days and saw Tembisa FC and Espanyol FC head to the finals for the grand prize.
Tembisa dismantled their opponents 3-0 to be crowned champions of the U15 tournament.

Meanwhile, Espanyol FC defeated Tembisa FC in the U17 section to take home the win.

Tournament coordinator and host Mpumelelo Buthelezi said he is delighted to unite boys under one umbrella.

“Our goal is to mentor boys into becoming great fathers of the future. The goal is to nurture boys from a young age to ensure that their development is not hindered.

“We plan to mentor young boys through team sports. We know that football unites boys and it is for this reason that tournaments such as these are so important,” he said.

Buthelezi added that BMSA hopes to provide mentorship skills to coaches to help with the development of young boys.

“We need to train coaches on the importance of team building and communication. We are working on a programme for this,” said Buthelezi.
