Kempton FC gains momentum

After losing their previous game to bottom-placed Tembisa Pistols, this match was a do-or-die affair for them.

Kempton Park FC and Balderstone Sports Institute reserve teams went head-to-head on June 22 at the Kempton Park FC home ground.

Balderstone kicked off on a high note by launching an attack that resulted in a corner kick.

They made their intentions clear that they wanted a high-tempo game and got an early goal.

After Balderstone made their intentions known, the game’s intensity grew.

Kempton FC seemed to lose the battle in the middle field, and they were defending more than they were attacking.

The reserves game was tight as it ended in a goalless draw.

Kempton FC’s goalkeeper was the busier of the two, which paints a clear picture of the game in the opening minutes.

Kempton eventually got into the game and both teams started going pound for pound.

Attacks were launched from both sides and both team’s wingers were on par.

Balderstone’s defence was solid and they forced Kempton to attempt to score from outside the box.

Balderstone had clearer goal-scoring opportunities but they just lacked the finish touches.

The game went to halftime with a zero score.

The second half resumed and the tempo of the game reflected the first half.

Both teams competed pound for pound, creating goal-scoring opportunities but failing to convert any. The game ended in a goalless draw.

Later, Kempton Park FC and Balderstone Sports Institute’s first teams played one of the most entertaining games of the season.

Kempton FC produced one of their best performances of the season after scoring three goals in 25 minutes.

Langa Zibi opened the scoring with a delicate finish eight minutes into the match. Soon after, Rudolf Komape made it 2-0 with a header.

Moments later, Langa Zibi scored another goal and made it 3-0 with a diving header.

In the second half, Kempton FC managed the game very well and maintained their 3-0 lead until the game ended.

They got a vital three points to go one point above Balderstone Sports Institute.
