Birch Acres Primary School collects more trophies

The school's U12 boys side played in two leagues and beat all the other participating schools.

Learners from Birch Acres Primary School proved that they not only excel academically but that they are a force to be reckoned with on the sports field.

While the U12 side played in the Benoni and Kempton Park leagues, the U10 boys only competed in the Kempton Park league.

“They have outdone themselves,” said Mashao.

A total of six teams from the school entered the league.

Birch Acres Primary School’s U10 soccer coach, Victor Maseko said he has been a coach for over five years.

He said that working with youngsters can be tricky sometimes but their love for soccer keeps them together.

“Working with the learners is not easy and requires patience. They know how to work together and support one another.

“Learners at their age love playing so incorporating it with soccer is easy,” said Maseko.

Birch Acres Primary School’s U12 coach, Calvin Segoale said his U12 players are responsible because they are a bit older.

“I have been a coach for over five years and I enjoy working with the boys.

“They are well-disciplined players that continuously need guidance, but they love working as a unit, so that makes things easier for me and for the whole team as well.

“Their overall performance is good, but I believe that with more practice and game time, they can move to greater heights,” Segoale said.
