Local foundation initiates soccer tournament for youth upliftment

Imvuselelo Sporting Foundation wishes to work with the elders of Thembisa who it believes will have a great impact by ensuring the tournament opens doors for the youth.

Imvuselelo Sporting Foundation has learned that there is a lack of activities for the youth in Thembisa.

According to the foundation, this places a huge risk on youth and exposes them to drug abuse because of a lack of guidance and mentorship to help them fulfil their desires.

This inspired the foundation to create a soccer tournament to give the youth a chance to further their dreams and avoid getting mixed up with the wrong crowd.

Thabani Masilela, the founder of Imvuselelo Sporting Foundation, believes with the community’s support, great things can come from the tournament.

The foundation wishes to work with the elders of Thembisa who it believes will have a great impact by ensuring the tournament opens doors for the youth.

The foundation has already partnered with the Xolani Khumalo Foundation, which has been fighting drug abuse in the country for years.

Together, the two foundations hope to use the tournament to fight drug abuse in the community and to protect young boys.

They hope that uniting community leaders will open up opportunities for those involved with drugs to overcome their circumstances, find purpose and realise their dreams.

Masilela said the partnership will bring a change in the lives of the youth.

“People can expect more activities implemented by the two foundations to unite the community.

“We want to build a safe environment for the people of Thembisa and ensure the eradication of gangsterism and drug abuse. We will announce more plans and implementations as time goes by.”

“For now, our goal is to ensure that our tournament in June goes well and according to our vision.

“I wish to unite the young people and help them bring out the best in each other. A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle,” added Masilela.
