Local club is set for a successful season

Kempton Park FC is still in the preparation phase as the new season is fast approaching. According to the coach, the team is gelling well and ready for the season.

Kempton Park FC U15s continued their pre-season preparations as they faced Mshishi FC on 17 February at the Kempton Park FC home grounds.

The game started slow, and it seemed both teams were rushing to score, resulting in players knocking the ball around the field.

Kempton Park FC had more goal-scoring opportunities than Mshishi FC in the first half but failed to convert them into goals.

Some of the action from the game.

The game went into half-time with both teams locked at 0-0.

What seems to be a tactical approach in every division of Kempton Park FC is that players start the game slowly in the first half.

They miss many goal-scoring opportunities, then come back faster and stronger in the second half.
This was the case in this game against Mshishi FC.

Kempton Park FC started the second half on fire and dominated the ball possession.

Kempton Park FC was the better team on the day and won 4-0.

This was a good game for them as the coach got to try out his new players.

The head coach of Kempton Park FC U15 coach Zigla spoke to the Kempton Express.

“We need to get rid of this thing where we play average football in the first half and then come alive in the second half.

“We need to get rid of it because if we play badly and concede a goal in the first half, we will have a problem throughout the game,” he said.

“The way we played in the second half is how we need to play in the first half and control the game.”

Zigla further said the preparation for the forthcoming season is going well and they have a big squad of players to choose from.

“We have three new players on the team and the team is gelling very well.

“One of them even scored a goal,” he said.

Earlier on in the day, the Kempton Park FC U12 side defeated Mshishi FC 2- 1 in a league match.
