Thembisa Ladies defeated by Etwatwa rivals for women’s league

After posting 216 in their innings, Etwatwa dismissed Thembisa for 32 runs to win by a mammoth 184 runs.

All-rounder Thelma Makhubela played a crucial role with both bat and ball as she helped Etwatwa to a thrilling 184-run victory over Thembisa Ladies in the Easterns Women’s League on February 17 at Willowmoore Park.

This Eastern Storm player top-scored with 88 runs and took one wicket as her team bulldozed their opponents with impeccable batting and exceptional bowling, assisted by incredible fielding as the players put their bodies on the line.

Batting first, openers Sinenhlanhla Kobe (15) and Kamogelo Nombewu (57) set a solid foundation for the middle order to finish the game. Makhubela, with great strokes as her knock, saw Etwatwa post 216.

Thembisa’s Princess Mathebula was the pick of the bowlers for her team with an incredible 5/38 in seven overs while Captain Moshoanae Tshabile took two.

Thembisa bowler Lwandle Ngwenya took one wicket.

In response, Thembisa was dismissed for 32 inside 21 overs as Diteboho Raitseng ran riot with an exceptional performance with the ball, taking five wickets without conceding a single run in four overs.

Skipper Sinelizwi Famu and Bongiwe Potwana each took two wickets, while Makhubela took the other to successfully defend their score and win the game.

Etwatwa batswoman Kamogelo Nombewu scored 47 runs.

She ensured no Thembisa batswoman registered double digits as Tshabile top-scored for the visitors with seven runs.
