Avion cricketers take to the field

Cricket players from Avion Cricket Club played in several games over the weekend.

First up was the Avion U8 Sibali side, which took on Springs Old Boys (SOB).

SOB batted first and scored 100/3 in 20 overs. In reply, Avion made 95/4 in their 20 overs. SOB won the match by five runs.

Man of match was awarded to AJ Henning, who took 3/8 and scored 11 runs with the bat.

The day’s best batsman was Joshua Oelofse who scored 15 runs.

In the Avion U10 league, the Impala side faced off against Midrand at Rhino Park.

Midrand CC batted first, scoring 85/2 in 25 overs. Avion replied with 86/1 in 10 overs. Avion won the match by nine wickets.

Leading the team with the bat were Luan Koegjee who scored 31 runs not out and James Kitching who scored 37 runs not out.

Avion U10 Kingham side was next up and took on Kempton Park.

Avion’s U10 Sibali were pitted against Duduza and played at Kruinsig.

Duduza batted first and scored 150/9 in 22 overs.

Avion replied with 29 all out in 14 overs to hand Duduza a 121 run victory.

The Avion U12 Kingham side went up against Benoni1 in a match played in Rhodesfield.

Avion batted first and made 96/7 in 25 overs. Benoni1 replied with 100 for no loss in 13.2 overs. Benoni1 took the win with 10 wickets.

Avion’s Conor Sheehan scored 32 runs not out while Jodey Coertse hit 10 runs not out.
