Over the weekend of October 14, several junior cricket teams from Avion Cricket Club took on rivals from across the East Rand.

Avion Cricket Club’s U8 side faced off against Alberton.

Avion won the toss and decided to field.

Alberton made 97 runs all out after 19.1 overs.

Avion replied with 98 in just 14 overs to win by seven wickets.

The best batsman of the day was JayJay Bezuidenhout, with 35 not out from 36 balls.

The best bowler was Gerhard Knoetze, who took two wickets for the loss of two runs in 1.1 overs.

Avion U8 Kingham also took on their Alberton rivals.

The Alberton side won the toss and elected to bat first. Alberton scored 59 for the loss of four in 20 overs.

Avion reached their 60-run target without loss in seven overs to rack up the day’s second victory.

Next up was the U8 Avion Rooi vs Actonville Sibali.

Actonville won the toss and decided to bat first. The Actonville side secured 159 runs for the loss of five wickets in 19 overs.

Avion replied with 81 for the loss of seven in 19 overs to hand Actonville a 78-run win.

The best batsman of the match was Hanro Nel, with 13 runs, while the best bowler award went to Franco Verster.

The Avion U10 Impala side took on Alberton at Robertsham Primary.

Alberton won the toss and elected to bat first, smashing 240 runs for the loss of five wickets in 25 overs.

Avion replied with 179 for the loss of five in 25 overs.

The best batsmen of the match were Luandre du Plessis and Liandro Mulder, who each scored 50 runs not out.

The U10 Avion Kingham side faced Alberton.

Avion won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 186 runs for the loss of six wickets in 25 overs.

Alberton replied with 137 runs for the loss of five in 25 overs to give Avion a 49-run victory.

The best batsmen of the match were Ivan with 63, Juandre with 43 and Divan with 23.

The pick of the bowlers were Ivan and Paul, who each took two wickets.

Then Avion’s U10’s took on Old Bens.

Old Bens won the toss and sent the Avion side in to bat first.

Avion made 74 runs for the loss of four in 20 overs.

Old Bens replied with 76 for the loss of six in 13 overs to win by four wickets.

The best batsman of the match was John Daly with 18 runs, while the best bowler went to Anzel Henning for his two wickets.

Also on the cards was the U12 Avion side against Alberton.

Alberton won the toss and decided to field.

Avion made 140 runs for the loss of eight in 25 overs.

Alberton replied with 143 runs for the loss of four in 19.1 overs.
