Despite a couple of swims duo comes 10th

addlers throughout Gauteng are working on building up their fitness and endurance stamina

VICTORIA Lake Canoe Club hosted one of the first early river races for the new season on June 3, covering a distance of some 30km with some serious rapids and technically difficult sections of river.

The race took place from Daleside on the Klip River to Meyerton.

Dean Conrad from Kempton Park partnered with Liwalam Ntsiza, also a paddling member at Ekurhuleni Kayak Club at Homestead Dam, to enjoy the 30km river race – despite a couple of swims as they ironed out their partnership.

They finished the race as the 10th K2 (double) in two hours 28 minutes.

Paddlers throughout Gauteng are working on building up their fitness and endurance stamina, as later in the year they will take on the 80km A grade Fish River Race, or hope to participate in the ICF World Marathon Championships, which will be hosted in South Africa in September.
