Video: Hoërskool Birchleigh host interhigh meeting at last minute
60 records were broken at the event
HOËRSKOOL Birchleigh hosted an emergency B team super Interhigh athletics meeting on February 23 after the scheduled interhigh which should have been hosted by Hoërskool Dr Malan, was cancelled.
“With the help of two major sponsors, Pennypinchers and North West University, the event was rescued and successfully hosted by Birchleigh. Timbercity and Auto Pedigree also contributed to the success of the event by providing colourful displays of their products throughout the day,” said Keith Goosen, sport organiser at Birchleigh.
The event, the first of its kind, saw 60 records broken. The final results were:
1. Afrikaans Hoër Seuns en Meisies (Pretoria)
2. Hoërskool Dr Malan (Meyerton)
3. Pretoria Boys and Girls High
4. Hoërskool Birchleigh
5. Hoërskool Waterkloof (Pretoria)
6. Hoërskool Kemptonpark
“The success of the event was lauded on Facebook and YouTube and by Friday morning 7am more than 20 000 visitors to the Facebook page provided positive input,” said Goosen.

Ek het gister die voorreg gehad om die B-bond Atletiek Interhoër by Hoërskool Birchleigh by te woon. Terwyl die land se universiteite brand oor rasse- en taalkwessies het hierdie gebeurtenis hom gister afgespeel.
Verskoon die bewerige en skewe kamerawerk, maar ek moes kort-kort trane afvee om hierdie wonderwerk te kon afneem. Engelse kinders en Afrikaanse kinders, wit, swart, bruin en Indiër het ingehak en die trane laat loop.
