Birchleigh North residents grateful as metro trims trees

Requests to have trees trimmed were submitted few months ago

SOLOMON Makgoke of Birchleigh North writes:

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the services rendered by the Ekurhuleni Parks Department in Malvina Road, Birchleigh North.

Requests to have trees trimmed were submitted a few months ago, only to have a few houses trimmed where branches were left without being removed.

After several calls made by myself to the department’s office, the department’s administrator, Leanne, started logging my calls as per addresses given on the street’s Whatsapp group and sending call log reference numbers directly to me.

As promised by Leanne that she would try to get the truck in our street to commence work, the community was amazed to see the truck arriving on Wednesday last week (May 3) to start the job.

They returned a second day to continue where they left off, collecting old dried branches and cutting more of the trees as per calls logged.

The residents’ joy could not be expressed enough seeing their street cleared, especially when the area had been hit so hard by crime, probably as these criminals were hiding themselves in these dense trees to avoid being caught.

As the residents also expressed their gratitude towards me for a job well done, I felt that I could not have done all this alone.

The community played their role as well by being supportive, cooperative and patient with the municipality.

A very big thank you to the Kempton Park office of Ekurhuleni Parks Department.
