Cables stolen twice in four months

Do the police regularly raid scrap yards to hunt down the buyers of stolen goods?

For the second time in less than four months, Telkom cables have been stolen in Kempton Park extension 2.

This has huge implications for residents, schools and businesses in the area as they have to make do without phone and ADS lines, hence no landline or internet facilities.

One has to wonder about the destination of the stolen cables which are obviously sold somewhere. Do the police regularly raid scrap yards to hunt down the buyers of stolen goods?

Also, there are several uninhabited properties in the area which may be havens for the perpetrators of these crimes to hide and process the stolen cables.

Meanwhile, those affected by this scourge just have to hope that Telkom will prioritise the replacement of the stolen cables.
