NOTICE OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION FOR BASIC ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROCESS AND PROSPECTING RIGHT APPLICATION Notice is hereby given in terms of Regulation 41 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations 2014, made under Section 24(5) of the National Environment Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998) and published in Government Notice No. R.326 of 2014 read together with section 16(4) of the Mineral and Petroleum Resource Development Act (Act no: 28 of 2002) as amended of intent to carry out the following activity: Proposed prospecting activity which will involve prospecting of Coal, on portions 1,11,13,14,19,22,23,25,30,32,37,38,40,42,45 and 48 of the farm Modderfontein 562 IR, situated within the jurisdiction of Dipaleseng Local Municipality of Gert Sibande District in Mpumalanga Province. DMR Ref no: MP 30/5/1/1/2/17632 PR Site Co-ordinates 2643` 24.0″S 2831` 18.3″E Location of the proposed prospecting area: The affected farm is situated 12.8 km south west of Balfour town to the Proposed Site. The proposed development activity falls within the categories of R 983 Activity 20 and therefore requires Basic Assessment Process. Please be informed that the Consultative Basic Assessment Report and the Environmental management programme is available for comments for 30 days from date of publication of this notice (13 July 2024 to 11 August 2024).
