“With a record-breaking turnout and unparalleled enthusiasm from participants, the event exceeded all expectations, cementing its place as a premier platform for career advancement and professional networking.”

Nine Taal-net campuses attended the event with the community, learners’ parents and a Kempton Park neighbouring school.

Leona Phiri, the marketing manager, said the career expo aimed to help learners plan their careers and inform young people of the opportunities available that they might not have known about.

Taal-net aims to host the career expo annually and has marked it in their school calendar.

“Life after school becomes difficult for most learners who are unprepared and have little knowledge about what path to take.”

Phiri said Taal-net runs on the principle that learners exposed to career education will be correctly prepared to make prudent career choices.

She said career education aims to improve a person’s capacity to make informed career choices based on his/her objectives, priorities, strengths, and goals.

“We will use the platform to showcase that there are other methods you can use to build your future if academics is not your strong point,” said Phiri.

“Our strongest point is allowing the learners to interact with recruiters and potential employers to help them figure out their career after matric.”

Institutes such as the University of Johannesburg, Boston College, PC Training, TUT, Unisa, Wits, Edutel, Tina Career Consultancy and other entities spoke about new skills that could help learners find employment quicker.
