Anton Bouwer: Quadruple murder case postponed to December 5

The State asked for a postponement in the Anton Bouwer murder case for further investigations.

The case against quadruple murder accused Pomona businessman Anton Bouwer was postponed to December 5.

Bouwer appeared before the Kempton Park Regional Court on September 20.

He stands accused of killing his parents, Bettie (73) and Robert (78) Bouwer, on January 22 at their house in Bredell.

He is also accused of killing his stepdaughter, Natasha Bouwer (22), and domestic worker, Elizabeth Mahlangu (56), at a house in Fairleads, Benoni, on the same day.

Natasha and Adelle Bouwer’s friends and family outside the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court hold their posters.

Bouwer will additionally face one charge of attempted murder for the shooting of his wife, Adelle.

In the application for a postponement, State prosecutor Ninette Lambden said the State needed more time for further investigations because it was still waiting for the DNA and ballistic reports from both crime scenes.

She also said the State needed to take additional witness statements.

Lambden confirmed the reopening of the 2011 murder case of Bouwer’s brother.

Bouwer’s defence attorney, Hugo van der Westhuizen, highlighted that his client has been detained since January.

He said he did not understand what bearing the 2011 case had on the current case against his client.

Van der Westhuizen said he hoped reopening the 2011 case would not lead to more postponements.
