On August 26 at around 19:00, officers were patrolling the N12 highway, heading towards the direction of Benoni when they spotted a white Toyota Corolla by the on-ramp just after Kingsway/Springs.

Noticing the occupants acting suspiciously, the members tried to pull the vehicle over.

The Corolla sped up and took the Putfontein off-ramp.

A chase ensued until the vehicle came to a stop on the corner of Swaziland and Limpopo River streets, Chief Albert Luthuli.

Two suspects jumped out and ran away but one was cornered inside the vehicle.

On further investigation, a victim was found on the floor behind the driver’s seat with his head covered by a jacket.

The victim told the members his white Mahindra Pik Up was hijacked on the N12 at the R50 off-ramp.

He was then placed in the Corolla and covered up.

The 28-year-old suspect was immediately arrested.
