Kempton Park police hold prayer intervention at crime hotspot

The prayer aimed to raise awareness and warn drivers and pedestrians about the high risks in the area.

The Kempton Park SAPS station commander, Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu, embarked on a prayer intervention on the corner of CR Swart Drive and Kelvin Street, a known hotspot for theft out of motor vehicles.

Vispol commander Colonel Obed Mashalane, support commander Colonel Motsatsi Lesomo, crime information management and analysis commander Captain Ludic Mashile, sector commanders Warrant Officer Sydwel Pitso, Sergeants Tendani Mashabela and Wouter Du Preez, social crime prevention co-ordinators Sergeants Mpho Sigida and Ntombifuthi Abrokwa, second-hand officer Sergeant Phethole Mashatola, firearm officer Warrant Officer Metsa Monare, supply chain Sergeant Motsatsi Ramopadi, representative of the crime prevention youth desk and four pastors joined him.

At the prayer intervention, the officers raised awareness and cautioned drivers and pedestrians about the high risks in the area.

They distributed pamphlets, warning drivers to secure valuables and be vigilant when parking between CR Swart Drive and Pretoria Road.

They also advised the community to approach traffic lights with extreme caution and warned pedestrians to avoid walking under the bridge at night and never to walk alone.
