Police units arrest suspects and recover vehicles and firearms

A total of 44 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 16 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Between August 2 and 7, Rapid Response Services, comprising the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 104 suspects and recovered 44 motor vehicles and seven firearms.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

These operations led to 46 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, common robbery, possession of housebreaking implements, illicit cigarettes, malicious damage to property, theft, murder, intimidation, fraud and bribery.

A total of 44 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 16 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Seven unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying six arrests.

In further policing, 36 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroine, dagga, cat (cocaine), Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
