Man (61) shot and killed by CIT security officer in Thembisa

According to the details supplied to The Thembisan, the shooting took place when a man refused to move.

CIT security officers shot dead a 61-year-old man on July 26 in Ecaleni.

It is believed when security officers arrived at an ATM in the area, they instructed members of the community to move away.

According to the details supplied to The Thembisan, the shooting took place when a man refused to move.

After the shooting, police and emergency services were called to the scene.

A 61-year-old man was shot to death by security personnel.

Provincial SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the 32-year-old security officer was arrested and charged with murder.

He appeared in the Thembisa Magistrate Court on July 29.

“It is alleged that as the security officer requested people to move away from the ATM, a man refused to move. The security officer pushed him away.

“It is then that the firearm from the security officer discharged. The bullet hit the deceased, who was standing nearby,” said Mosondo.
