The range of information available regarding the Koppies has opened the eyes of recent visitors.
The scraper that hunter-gatherers had fashioned from quartzite rock to remove flesh from wild animal skins was a sight for visitors to marvel at.
David Carstens, their guide, showed them the repaired furnace, the toothbrush tree, the ripple lines on rocks, and the remnants of stone walls.

Guided tours are available at R100 per person over 18 and R50 for those under 18 and can be booked on 079 532 0083.
The tour departs promptly at 08:00.
The Melville Koppies are open every Sunday from 08:00 to 11:30.
Visitors can choose from self-guided options priced at R90 for adults and R50 for children.
