Rhodesfield residents fed up with sewage mess

Minnaar said he has reported the issues multiple times over the past two weeks and no one had attended to the matter.

Rhodesfield resident Gerrie Minnaar is fed up with the recurring sewerage issues in the area.

Minnaar said he had reported the issues multiple times over a two-week period, and no one had arrived to attend to the spillage.

“The smell is unpleasant, and a health concern for us, especially the children who walk to and from school,” said Minnaar.

“I have taken photos and documented the incidents, and even encountered other residents who had also reported the issue.”

According to Minnaar, following a lack of response from the City of Ekurhuleni, he recently visited the municipal office and spoke with officials who promised the matter would be resolved within an hour.

However, it wasn’t until Minnaar followed up the next day that the contractor was called and promised to attend to the issue.
