Elderly woman killed by a taxi in Thembisa

A minibus taxi ran down a woman aged between 60 and 65 years while she was running across the road on the afternoon of June 7.

EMPD Thembisa precinct officers responded to this accident along Andrew Mathepho Drive – between Umthambeka and Sangweni sections near the Thembisa Plaza.

EMPD spokesperson Marie Mashishi confirmed the outcomes of the crash.

“A white minibus taxi struck down the woman. Paramedics were called, and they assessed her. She showed no signs of life and was declared dead on the scene.”

The details of the driver of the minibus taxi and the victim are unknown.
