Orginisations donate school jerseys to needy learners

The event follows previous events, during which the companies donated over 150 school jerseys to three schools in Thembisa.

The Fudumala Foundation and Sandvik continued to donate school jerseys to less privileged earners.

The companies visited Welamlabo Primary School on 31 May to donate 50 jerseys to learners to secure their education and keep them in class.

Two companies unite to donate uniforms to learners.

The foundation has worked hard to ensure learners are in class and their education is undisturbed, especially in winter.

Khabonina Mnguni, the co-founder and CEO of ZS Uniform Supplies, said many households face the struggle of a crippled economy.

“It is sad to witness and see how people are struggling. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of learners and parents.

“It is painful for a learner to go to school in a torn uniform in this type of weather. Through our work, we aim to help these learners fight for their future and freedom through education. Their comfort in classrooms matters to us.”

Zandre de Witt, the Sandvik SA CSI chairperson, outlined his feelings about donating uniforms.

“Getting involved stems from my upbringing. I was taught to lend a helping hand to those who could not manage.

“Coming from a disability myself, I know what helping means to another person. It is a matter of identifying something and offering help where possible.

“Every bit helps bring about change to everyone. When you lend a helping hand, I know it brings about change and commitment to learners, which is great for their education,” he said.

Principal Sipho Sibiya said he was delighted and that the donations would bring confidence to the learners.

“We are a school where most parents rely on social grants or business stalls for survival.

“At times, it gets hard to find enough money to buy uniforms. We are glad the two companies chose to put smiles on our learners’ faces.”
