Suspect arrested for attempted murder at tavern in Norkem Park

“Officers found a handgun and several live rounds. The suspect was arrested on two counts of attempted murder.”

Officers from Norkem Park SAPS arrested one suspect on May 26 on charges of attempted murder following a shooting outside Clement’s Tavern in Norkem Park on May 25.

Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Barbara-Anne Ferreira said on arrival, police officers found two brothers, aged 19 and 20, both shot.

“One sustained a bullet wound to his left leg while the other had a bullet wound in his right foot,” said Ferreira.

According to Ferreira, the victims alleged they argued with an unknown man at the tavern.

The victims were taken to Arwyp Hospital, and the suspect fled the scene.

On Sunday morning at around 01:00, officers in the Norkem Park SAPS sector vehicles, crime prevention, crime office, and trio task team followed up on information and found the suspect at Cloete Street, Birchleigh.

“Officers found a handgun and a magazine with seven rounds. The suspect was arrested on two counts of attempted murder.”

The suspect will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.
