#KemptonPower: No restoration time as technicians arrive on site

Technicians have arrived on site to investigate the multi-area power outage affecting Kempton Park this morning.

According to the latest information available, technicians are on site to investigate the cause of a massive power outage affecting a large part of Kempton Park.

The outage has affected numerous areas including Croydon, Spartan, Terenure, Edleen, Kempton Park West, Glen Marais, Aston Manor, Bonaero Park, Birchleigh, Birch Acres, Van Riebeeck Park, Norkem Park and more.

Ward 15 councillor, Amanda Davison said an update would be provided as soon as the fault has been located.

Information shared earlier on social media platforms indicated that the fault could be on the 66kv supply line.

Ward 16 councillor, Jaco Terblanche posted that the power outage could be attributed to several causes.

“According to an update from the MMC of Entergy, a cable supply in Kempton Park tripped. The specific cause was identified as a fault on the blue phase,” he said in a post on various community WhatsApp groups.

Other causes were identified as emergency work conducted at the Kempton Park substation and routine maintenance work done in the area.
