Help Grace Foundation donate sanitary pads to less fortunate girls

“We believe sanitary pads are an essential part of a woman’s health and wellbeing. It would show care and compassion, especially to those in need if sanitary pads.”

The Grace Foundation is calling for assistance in donating sanitary pads to disadvantaged girls in Kempton Park.

The foundation’s project manager, Katlego Makutu, said the organisation started donating sanitary pads in 2022 to 100 girls from Jiyana Secondary School.

Last year, the organisation donated to 200 girls from four schools in the community.

“This year they are hoping to collect 1 600 packs of sanitary pads before the end of the year and to be donated to 400 girls in our community.

The Grace Foundation team donated 200 sanitary pads at Norkem Park High School in 2022.

“The inspiration came from the love and compassion for young girls who cannot afford sanitary products.

“This results in low self-esteem for many of them which affects other areas of their lives,” said Makutu.

“We believe this campaign will assist these girls to have a few packs of sanitary pads to use throughout the month. We hope that one day we will have enough to supply free pads to these girls throughout the year instead of one month.”

The Grace Foundation was established in 2014 and registered 2022 with the purpose of giving hope to the hopeless by identifying their needs within communities and mobilising resources to meet those needs.

Makutu said they would like to donate to Sir Pierre Van Ryneveld High School, Norkem Park High School, Hoërskool Birchleigh and Hoërskool Jeugland.

“We believe sanitary pads are an essential part of a woman’s health and wellbeing. While having sex is a decision for most individuals, menstruating is not.

“It would show care and compassion, especially to those in need, if sanitary pads were freely accessible to all who need them.”
