City forms partnership with entities for a programme to fight poverty

According to Dlamini the two institutions handed over donations of R10 500 to Bula Mahlo and Bana Ba Noko.

The City of Ekurhuleni partnered with the retail and property development company, AJP Group, to assist Bula Mahlo Children Welfare at Difateng and Bana Nako at Olifantsfontein in Thembisa, on February 13.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the CoE and AJP Group ran an action against poverty programme to support needy communities.

He said the two institutions handed over donations of R10 500 to Bula Mahlo and Bana Ba Noko.

Bana Ba Noko is an early childhood development centre for children from needy families, mainly from Tswelopele in Thembisa, whilst Bula Mahlo is an orphanage housing 30 residents with the youngest being eight months old.

MMC for Corporate and Shared Services Nkosindiphile Xhakaza commended the management of Bula Mahlo and Bana Ba Noko for their sterling leadership and the support they provide to the benefiting communities.

“The services you are providing are much needed in our communities, and as a government, we will support you,” said Xhakaza.

Regina Sekgobela, founder of Bula Mahlo Children Welfare Centre, appreciated the support from the city and AJP Group and said the donation will go a long way in acquiring educational and other materials for the children.
