Edleen Community Crime Forum launched

The community of Edleen has a new crime prevention unit that is committed in getting rid of crime in the area.

The Edleen Community Crime Forum NPO (ECCF) was launched on February 3 to fight crime in the area.

The forum was initially created last year October with the mandate of improving safety in the area and also to reduce crime.

The forum intends to install cameras at the main intersections and entrances to Edleen, install LED streetlights and patrol the suburb in cooperation with their local SAPS.

Chairperson of Edleen Willem du Plessis spoke to the Kempton Express.

“Last year, Allan Phillips from Jawits and Vish Mothiram from MS Tactical had a meeting with us to start the Patrol Car Initiative. Jawitz is the main sponsor of our patrol car,” he said.

Additionally, du Plessis said that the forum was a symbol of their collective commitment to fortifying the safety and security of their community.

“This initiative not only represents innovation in security but also serves as a testament to the power of collaboration between businesses and residents in fostering a secure and prosperous Edleen,” he said.

“To our local businesses, I extend a heartfelt appeal to embrace and support this crucial initiative. Your support is not just a financial contribution, it is an investment in the resilience and well-being of Edleen.

“By joining forces, we can create a thriving environment where businesses flourish, residents prosper, and safety prevails. Your backing is an investment in a brighter and safer tomorrow.

“Residents of Edleen are urged to actively endorse and support businesses that prioritise their community’s collective safety, such as MS Tactical and Jawitz Properties.”

The forum feels the need to acknowledge and appreciate companies that actively invest in the security infrastructure of the community, and du Plessis stated that the community’s support ensures that these businesses continue to be the pillars of the community’s safety and prosperity.

“In addition to this, I propose a united commitment from both businesses and residents, a pledge to monthly subscriptions for the sustainability of this security initiative.

“The monthly contributions will not only bolster the presence of our security patrol but will also contribute to the installation and maintenance of essential elements such as security cameras and street lights.

“We envision well-lit streets and vigilant surveillance to ensure that every corner of Edleen is safe and secure.”
Du Plessis said that safety is a shared responsibility, and the forum’s commitment goes beyond financial contributions.

It extends to actively participating in initiatives that fortify the security infrastructure of our community.

By contributing to monthly subscriptions, the forum is investing in security cameras that keep a watchful eye and streetlights that illuminate paths, making streets safer for everyone.

“As we embark on this collaborative journey, let us collectively envision an Edleen where businesses and residents unite for the greater good. Let us strife for a community where the streets are safe, businesses prosper, and residents thrive.
