Local school celebrates their 97.3% matric achievement

Child Academy Programmes celebrates their 97.3% matric pass rate and aims to go higher with its matric class of 2024.

Child Academy Programmes’ matric class of 2023 achieved a phenomenal 97.3% pass rate, an accomplishment that the school says resonates deeply with its entire school community.

The school has only offered Grade 12 for two years now.

The 2023 group represents the school’s second matric class, making their achievement even more significant.

Child Academy Programmes officially opened its doors in 1997 as an independent NPC registered community creche, by founder and former director the late Isaac L Mahlatsi.

By the time of his death in 2008, Child Academy had grown into becoming a renowned primary school, catering from Grade R to Grade Seven.

It remained a primary school until 2015 when the first Grade Eight class was added.

With much work, a grade was added every year.

The school had its first-ever matric class in 2022 and was able to produce a 72.4% pass rate.

Child Academy Programmes’ creative digital learning manager and digital marketing manager for fundraising, Karabelo Mahlatsi, who is also the son of the school’s late founder, spoke to the Kempton Express.

“In 2022, our inaugural Grade 12 class achieved a commendable 72.4% pass rate. Since then, our dedicated teachers and passionate management have tirelessly strived to elevate our academic standards and support our learners.

“This involved an innovative initiative during the 2023 June holiday break, where we hosted a residential camp at the school for our Grade 12 learners.

“This immersive experience allowed them to focus entirely on their studies and build a strong support network amongst themselves,” he said.

He added that the school was invited to the Thembisa Matric Awards for Top Achievers event that was held at the Thembisa Christian Family Church in Hospital View on January 27.

“This event had all the top achieving learners from schools in the Ekurhuleni North district and our own former head boy, Linda Baans, was awarded 4th top achiever,” he said.

“We are incredibly proud of our learners’ achievements and their resilience in reaching their full potential,” he said.

“If our learners’ parents don’t buy into our system, we might not reach the target we had set for ourselves.

“To achieve great results, commitment, dedication and discipline play an important role. The systems that we have put in place need cooperation from all stakeholders,” he said.

Mahlatsi shared his message for their matric class of 2024.

“To our matric class of 2024, this year promises to be a new adventure filled with engaging lessons, supportive teachers, and endless opportunities to become the best versions of yourselves.
