Alleged mob justice leaves five dead in Thembisa

No one has been arrested, but a case of murder with five counts is open for further investigations.

Five men were killed in an alleged mob justice incident in Kanana Ext 4, Thembisa, on January 22.

SAPS spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the police attended to the complaint at about 05:50.

“Five men were found dead. The suspicion is that they were stoned to death by community members.

“No one has been arrested. A case of murder with five counts was opened for further investigations,” she said.
Nevhuhulwi urged the public not to take the law into their own hands.

“Community members should work with the police by reporting any criminal activities on the Crime Stop Line on 08600 10111 or anonymously give tip-offs on the MySapsApp, which can be downloaded on any smartphone.”
