Police arrest five suspects and recover stolen vehicles

Between December 13 and December 17, BFS made five arrests, recovering five motor vehicles and two motorcycles.

Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members arrested five suspects and recovered five motor vehicles and two motorcycles between December 13 and 17.

On December 14, Sergeant Jaco Powell and Constable Juan-Mare Eksteen followed up on information about a Toyota Quantum hijacked in Kriel.

The information led them to a panel beater in Kempston Avenue, Benoni.

The Quantum was not found. However, they arrested a 30-year-old suspect when the officers found seats on the premises suspected to be from the hijacked vehicle.

The suspect will appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s court facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property.

On December 15, Warrant Officer Nel and Sergeant Nick Muller followed up information with a security company about a white Toyota Quantum travelling on the N12 and possibly transporting a stolen motorcycle.

The officers pulled over a vehicle with three occupants at Moroleng Street, Daveyton.

In the back, they found a green Kawasaki motorcycle, which tested positively stolen on a Meyerton case.

The three suspects were immediately arrested and will appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s court.

Nel and Muller thereafter followed up further information with security company members, which led to Ratoli Street, Palm Ridge, where a yellow and blue Yamaha motorcycle was recovered abandoned. It was reported stolen in Heidelberg.

On Saturday, reckless driving on the R562 in Olifantsfontein led BFS members to arrest the 56-year-old driver of a silver Toyota Corolla for driving under the influence of alcohol.

In further policing, the officers recovered five abandoned motor vehicles.

A white Isuzu truck reported hijacked on a Thembisa case, was recovered at Kempston Corner Bunyan Avenue in Benoni and a white Ford Ranger, reported on a Rabie Ridge case, was recovered at Industrial Road in Ivory Park.

A white Nissan Navara was recovered at Kgaka and Kerstel streets in Thembisa.

This vehicle was reported hijacked on a Thembisa case. A blue Toyota Corolla, reported hijacked in Olifantsfontein was recovered at Oakmore Station and a white Toyota Fortuner, reported stolen in Garsfontein, was recovered at Freedom Drive in Ivory Park.

Investigation continues in all cases.
