Kempton Park BMX club closes off 2023

Kempton BMX Club had a successful 2023 and aims to get more kids to join the club.

Kempton Park BMX has stood as a pillar of the Glen Marais community for nearly four decades, embodying the essence of a community-based BMX club.

Recognised as one of the more formidable BMX Clubs in SA, the Kempton Park BMX riders demonstrated prowess at the SA Cup and Nationals this year.

The club’s commitment extends beyond competition because it actively engages in developmental initiatives for previously disadvantaged riders through various structured programmes.

Kempton Park BMX Club treasurer Linky Wheeler spoke to the Kempton Express.

“In the spirit of fostering community spirit, Kempton Park BMX Club invites youngsters passionate about bike riding to experience the thrill at our esteemed club this December. Your children are welcome to join us and explore the exciting world of BMX,” she said.

She said the club’s dedication to community welfare is exemplified by their collaboration with local businesses and community members since 2021.

“Together, we undertook the revitalisation of Action Park, the location of our club.

“This collaborative effort aimed to restore green spaces in the vicinity, providing the community with a conducive environment for leisurely activities such as dog walking, strolls, and cycling,” she said.

Additionally, she said this initiative reflects their commitment to the present and underscores their ongoing dedication to the sustained well-being of the community in the foreseeable future.
