Police bust 71 suspects, recover 28 vehicles and seize four firearms

Rapid Response Services made seventy one arrests and recovered 28 vehicles and and four firearms.

Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 71 suspects, recovering 28 motor vehicles and four firearms between December 1 and December 7.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

This included 37 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, illegal immigrant, business burglary, robbery, possession of suspected stolen goods, warrant of arrest, sexual assault, fraud, contravention of a protection order, reckless and negligent driving, possession of a protected plant without a permit, possession of housebreaking implements and driving under the influence.

Some 28 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with two arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Four unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying nine arrests.

In further policing, 23 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroine, dagga, cocaine, mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
