Thembisa dancers showcase their supreme talents

Seeing the need for intervention, Masango and Leseba used their talents to raise awareness of drug usage in ekasi.

In support of substance abuse awareness, Bhanzela Masango and his business partner Naledi Leseba hosted the ‘street pantsula and tap dance’ event for the youth of Thembisa on November 25.

The event took place at Kaklabase Tsenelong.

The dancing event aimed to raise awareness about substance abuse in the youth of Thembisa, giving young dancers a platform to share their talents.

Shedding light in ekasi, the organisers also hosted a renowned Austrian dancer, Sabine, who gave the local dancers a surprise performance.

Sabine is a tap dance choreographer, who created a different dancing genre with Bhanzela called Skokoto.
The choreographer is also a dancing talent scout.

The two choreographers created a good relationship to elevate kasi talents.

Masango and Leseba used the opportunity to host a dancing event and give young dancers the platform to express their creative skills while spreading awareness.

“I never would have thought that substance abuse would have skyrocketed. I’m terrified to my very core, which is why Naledi and I launched this effort to stop drug misuse.

“We believe that getting children involved in dance will offer them something to do in their free time, but this idea also helps us promote Pantsula’s art and dance culture as a whole.

“I have a strong passion for what I do, and my first love is the arts. If we start them off early, they will develop self-discipline and a passion for the genre.

“We are guaranteed future leaders of the country.”

According to Bhanzela, the young dancers showed up in large numbers.
