Over 100 suspects arrested and 52 vehicles recovered by local police

The suspects will be appearing in the local Magistrates courts across Gauteng.

Between November 24 and 30, Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 109 suspects and recovered 52 motor vehicles and six firearms.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng which led to 44 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, malicious damage to property, illegal immigrant, theft, robbery and possession of suspected stolen goods, warrant of arrest, murder, rape, attempted hijacking, pointing of a firearm and driving under the influence.

Fifty-two hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 18 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Six unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying seven arrests.

In further policing, 40 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigations continue in these cases. The suspects will be appearing in local magistrates’ courts across Gauteng.
