EMPD issue fines and discontinue unroadworthy vehicles in operation

During the operation, 36, written notices were issued to offenders and two Unroadworthy Motor- Vehicles, were discontinued, from use on the public road, until Defects were addressed.

The EMPD Kempton Park precinct officers conducted a driver and vehicle fitness operation, at the corner of Old Pretoria and Highveld roads on November 20.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa, during the operation, 36 written notices were issued to offenders and two unroadworthy motor vehicles were discontinued from use on any public road until the defects were addressed.

“The aim and objective of that exercise, was to check if motorists were administratively fit and compliant to drive their vehicles on a public road, and that they were in possession of the valid and required official documents.”

Thepa stated that the operation is ongoing, in and around the City of Ekurhuleni.

Two unroadworthy motor vehicles were removed from being used on public roads.
