Police nab 81 suspects and recover 49 stolen vehicles in various operations

Rapid Response services held various operations around Gauteng between November 17 and November 23. The operations led to the arrests of 81 suspects, with 49 vehicles and three arms being recovered.

Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 81 suspects, recovering 49 motor vehicles and three firearms between November 17 and November 23.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

The operations led to 44 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, malicious damage to property, illegal immigrant, theft, robbery, possession of suspected stolen goods, warrant of arrest, armed robbery, reckless and negligent driving, rape, hijacking, housebreaking and driving under the influence.

Forty-nine hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 11 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Three unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying one arrest.

In further policing, 25 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
