Local organisation receives donation

Michelin SA donated R60 000 to People Matter Foundation in Kempton Park.

Under their ‘Care in Action’ programme, Michelin SA, a global tyre manufacturing leader, is driving change by donating R60 000 to five different NPOs.

Their commitment reflects the core value of ‘Respect for People’.

One of these NPOs is the People Matter Foundation, an organisation based in Kempton Park.

These NPOs, often working tirelessly in the background, are the unsung heroes of our communities, and Michelin’s don

With these financial boosts, NPOs can expand their reach, touch more lives and offer a helping hand to those who need it most.

The funds empower the organisations to innovate, adapt, and make a greater difference, strengthening their ability to provide vital services and support.

It allows NPOs to implement lasting, positive change in the communities they serve.

Pastor Siphiwe Christopher Mathebula of Hope Restoration Ministries and founder of the People Matter Foundation spoke to Kempton Park.

“My life story and the work I do with the foundation are connected because I left home at 10 and lived in the streets of Johannesburg for five years. There was a woman who found me and decided to take me in.

“I knew I mattered to somebody and decided I would share the little that I have when God has blessed me because people matter,” he said.

Mathebula added the idea for the foundation came from a talk he had with his congregation, that people matter to God, no matter who they are.

They started the foundation in 2019 and named it ‘People Matter Foundation’.

“Covid-19 struck the following year and we donated food parcels to our beneficiaries,” he said.

“Michelin SA gave us this R60 000 donation because they appreciate what we are doing for the community and for that, we are forever grateful.

“Sponsors are always welcome and their generous contributions will make a huge difference in the community.”

Mathebula added he hopes the public will start treating the homeless better and show them empathy.

“Give the little that you have, go out and make a difference in someone’s life,” he said.
