Fundraiser at Modderfontein Golf Course turns a success

“Little Eden’s Golf Day is a cornerstone in our ongoing efforts to raise crucial funds."

Golfers and community members supported Little Eden Society when they teed off at the Modderfontein Golf Course.

The November 2 event was a fundraiser for the society.

It provides lifelong care and support to the 300 children and adults living with profound intellectual disabilities at its Edenvale and Bapsfontein facilities.

Little Eden’s public relations and communications coordinator Gaahele Mokgoro said the day started with golfers teeing off the four-ball on the greens.

This provided an opportunity for golf enthusiasts and the community to unite and enjoy a day filled with camaraderie and competition.

Gaahele said the day’s significance extended beyond the love of golf.

“While the day’s activities centred around a shared love for the game, the true significance went far beyond the greens,” said CEO Xelda Rohrbeck.

“Little Eden’s Golf Day is a cornerstone in our ongoing efforts to raise crucial funds supporting our mission of providing lifelong care to individuals living with profound intellectual disability.

“The reality is the government only accounts for 45% of the funds we need to operate. The remaining 55% we have to raise through endeavours like the golf day,” said Xelda.

A highlight of the day was Little Eden expressing thanks to all the sponsors of the event, including Air Products South Africa, the main sponsor of the Golf Day.

Marketing and Communications Executive of Air Products, Arthi Govender, said the company’s journey with Little Eden Society began a decade ago.

She explained that their corporate strategy was to support organisations like Little Eden, emphasising the importance of supporting society’s most vulnerable.

“As a company, we must support organisations that give hope, love and care for those who do not have families or the means to support themselves and find themselves marginalised by society because of living with a disability,” she added.

She encouraged the community to support Little Eden in their endeavours.

Xelda thanked everyone on behalf of the society, its residents, and their families.

She added all the attendees and their support had a profound impact on the lives touched by Little Eden.

Their support helped ensure that every individual under the NPO’s care receives the love, care, and support they deserve.
