Crime clamp down operation in Kempton Park

The Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole appreciated the law enforcers for the impact they made in the area because no crime was reported while they were executing duties in Sebenza area.

Two-hundred-and-forty-five suspects were arrested between October 18 and 19 in Kempton Park during Operation Shanela.

Detectives arrested 157 suspects for contact crimes, 17 for contact-related crimes, 48 for other serious crimes, three for arrest warrants and 47 for instances related to GBV.

According to Captain Nelda Sekgobela, SAPS Ekurhuleni district communications officer, the main operations were conducted in the Sebenza policing precinct comprising SAPS and other law enforcement agencies under the leadership of the district commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole.

Operation Shanela took place in Kempton Park .

“One illegal liquor store was shut down, one suspect was detained for trafficking in illegal cigarettes and 51 people who violated the Road Traffic Act were fined R27 100 00 in traffic violations.

“Additionally, 21 suspects were arrested for being undocumented,” said Sekgobela.

“A drone was also assisting members in the roadblock and the PVS machine to check for wanted suspects.”
