EMPD impounds unroadworthy delivery scooters

EMPD Kempton Park precinct officers embarked on an intensive operation on October 12 where unroadworthy delivery scooters were impounded.
The focus of the operation was the CBD and the paperwork from scooter riders was checked following a roving stop and search.
During the operation, written notices were issued to offenders, outstanding traffic fines were scrutinised and a few unroadworthy scooters were discontinued and impounded.

The scooters were taken to the EMPD Kempton Park precinct for safekeeping.
EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Kelebogile Thepa said this is an ongoing operation throughout and beyond Transport Month.
“Defective delivery scooters used on our public roads are being attended to in and around the City of Ekurhuleni,” she said.
