Kempton Police arrest suspects for theft and impersonating police officers

Ditshego stated that the two suspects aged 26 and 36 were arrested and detained for possession of suspected stolen property, possession of live ammunition and impersonating a police officer.

Officers from Kempton Park SAPS arrested two suspects for possession of suspected stolen property, live ammunition and impersonating a police officer on October 17.

“The Kempton Park sector teams and crime prevention officers received a tip-off from the community of a suspicious-looking grey Golf 7 without a registration number with two occupants suspected of robbery,” said Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego.

Several rounds of live ammunition were taken.

“On arrival, the SAPS stopped the vehicle and searched it, as well as searching the occupants.

“Seven live rounds of ammunition, two iPhones and a Huawei phone suspected to have been stolen were recovered. One occupant was in possession of a fake police appointment certificate.”

Ditshego stated that the two suspects were arrested and detained for possession of suspected stolen property, possession of live ammunition and impersonating a police officer.

She further said that the two suspects will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.

Acting station commander Colonel Motsatsi Lesomo commended the officers for their swift response in making sure that justice is served.

She thanked the community for being the eyes and ears of the police in making sure that crime doesn’t thrive in Kempton Park.
