CoE raise breast cancer awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the CoE encourages women to screen for various cancers.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This year’s theme is ‘Keeping her in the picture’, a message aimed at supporting women affected and impacted by breast cancer.

According to statistics, breast cancer among South Africans is increasing and is one of the most common cancers among women.

It has also been determined that it is most prevalent among white and Asian women and the second among African and coloured women.

South African women overall have a one in nine chance or possibility of getting breast cancer.

As such, the CoE calls for all women to visit local clinics for regular screenings of various cancers.

The operating hours for the clinics are 08:00 to 16:30 from Monday to Friday, and there is no need to make an appointment.
