The Melville Koppies’ recent national heritage award is sparking interest from a range of people keen to know why they won.

The most recent explorers were Grade Eight learners from Alexandra. They bounded up the steep paths, balanced on the three billion-year-old quartzite rocks, and examined slag and pottery fragments left by the first farmers who lived on the Koppies until the mid-1800s.
