Security officer arrested for murder at Clayville construction site

The victim believed to be approximately 28, was pronounced dead by paramedics who arrived at the scene.

Ivory Park Police responded to a complaint of murder on October 16 at a construction site in Clayville Ext 78.

According to Ekurhuleni district media liaison officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela, authorities discovered the lifeless body of an African male lying on the ground, indicating signs of a violent assault.

The victim believed to be approximately 28, was pronounced dead by paramedics who arrived at the scene.

“The deceased had allegedly stolen brass taps from one of the newly constructed houses, which were under the watchful eye of security officers.

“It was reported that the security officer on duty confronted the alleged thief and subsequently assaulted him. The confrontation turned fatal, as the victim was strangled with a rope and partially burned on the other side of his body.

“The body of the deceased was transported to the Germiston Government Mortuary for further examination and investigation.”

The security officer responsible for the assault was promptly apprehended and is now facing charges of murder.
