Local retirement village hosts an annual fête

All funds raised went towards the retirement village fund

It was great fun when Thornhill Manor Retirement Village hosted a family day and fête.

The event was held on October 14 at Thornhill Manor from 09:00 to 13:00.

A wide selection of food and refreshments, including baked goods, pickles, preserves, boerewors rolls, egg and bacon rolls, German foods, pancakes, curry and rice, and deli items were available.

A tea garden added to the fun.

Penny Nickless sold her home-cured olives and hand-crafted dukkah, shortbread, herbal teas and tomato marmalade at the Thornhill Manor Retirement Village fête.

Bargain hunters were also able to browse the various stalls, which included honey and bee products, sewn and knitted items, books, CDs, DVDs, recycled cards, Christmas tags and crowns, home crafts, art, jewellery, calendars, decoupage, handbags, leather items, mosaic and Disney collectables.

The village hosted several raffles and musician Rudi van Niekerk provided live entertainment.
All monies raised went towards the retirement village fund for a project the residents will decide on and benefit from.
