Murder suspect hands himself to Ivory Park police

The arrest is expected to lead to the capture of additional suspects.

In a breakthrough for the Ivory Park SAPS, one of the suspects wanted in connection with a double murder and multiple shootings turned himself in.

The suspect (33), hired as a security guard in Ivory Park’s Ext 10, allegedly shot and killed two people and injured four others at the Mzondi informal settlement during a confrontation over illegal power connections.

While this suspect surrendered, others involved in the incident remain at large.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS detectives, the suspect and his accomplices opened fire on the residents of the Mzondi informal settlement who were forcefully and illegally connecting electricity.

“All the other so-called security officers who were present must come forward and account for their actions.

“If they believe they were justified, they should emulate the actions of this suspect and surrender themselves. Otherwise, we will find them ourselves,” stated Ngcobo.

The suspect will soon appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court, where he will face a charge of murder.

The Ivory Park SAPS is committed to ensuring justice is served and that all those involved in the double murder and shootings are held accountable for their actions.
