81 suspects arrested for various offences by local police

Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Between September 1 and 7, Rapid Response Services comprising the flying squad, K9 units and highway patrol members arrested 91 suspects and recovered 45 motor vehicles and five firearms.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 35 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, illegal possession of a protected species, attempted murder, fraud, possession of suspected stolen property, pointing of firearm, theft, attempted hijacking, damage or destroy essential infrastructure and housebreaking.

Forty-five hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 10 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Five unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying eight arrests.

In further policing, 28 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.
