What to do when involved in a hit-and-run accident

Record the location, time and cause of the accident and take photos, if possible.

If you are involved in a hit-and-run accident while driving, pull over to the side of the road when it’s safe to do so and switch on your hazard lights.

Do not chase the offender or leave the scene of an accident yourself.

If you or any other person is injured, call 10111 for the police, the emergency services or ambulance immediately.

If possible, record the license plate number, make, model and colour of the offending vehicle.
