“Members of the Ekurhuleni Crime Intelligence were following up on information where it was alleged that six suspects driving an FC Toyota Quest and a Golf 7 were about to commit a business robbery in the Midrand area,” said Ekurhuleni district communications officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela.

Sekgobela said the suspects gathered around the Cambridge Mall in Mayibuye.

The ECI had reported to SAPS Rabie Ridge for back up and they were ready when the Crime Intelligence alerted them about the suspect’s vehicle driving towards Modderfontein Road.

“Members spotted a metallic grey Golf 7 and the car was taken to the police station for a thorough search,” said Sekgobela.

Sekgobela said upon arrival, the vehicle was searched and a 9mm Glock pistol with 15 rounds of live ammunition was found.
